Chapter 1
14 The day of the LORD is near, the great day. It is near and very hasty. The voice of the day of the LORD: bitter cries there the mighty one. 15 A day of wrath, the day that—a day of distress and anguish, a day of tumult and devastation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of cloud and thick darkness. 16 A day of shofar and teru'ah on the fortified cities and on the high corners. 17 And I will straiten humanity, and they will go like the blind, for they have sinned against the LORD; and he will pour out their blood like dust and their bread like dung pellets. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to rescue them on the day of the LORD's wrath, and in the fire of his jealousy all the land will be consumed, for he will make a full end, indeed a sudden terror, of all the inhabitants of the land.

Chapter 2
1 Gather yourselves together and be anxious, O nation not desired. 2 before the decree is issued, like chaff that passes away in a day, before the burning anger of the LORD comes upon you, before the day of the anger of the LORD comes upon you. 3 Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth who have done his justice; seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be hidden in the day of the anger of the LORD.
